About Us

Bexhill Wheelers
& Classic Cycle Group

Bexhill Wheelers and Classic Cycle Group started with the help of Hastings Urban Bikes, in January 2008. HUB have worked together with Hastings Borough Council and  achieved great facilities for Hastings and pointed out the lack of facilities in Bexhill. All present agreed and showed that for many years we had been campaigning for cyclists. This had been carried out for over 16 years by groups and individuals. Our prime aim was the promenade where cycling is not presently allowed. It became obvious that there was a common interest and desire to bring  issues further up Rother District Council’s agenda.

The reason for the urgency is that currently there are many strategies, plans, consultations, projects, forums, stratergies, alliances, groups. etc. however they do not unfortunately join up in terms of cycle routes.

We believe a cycle champion is needed to coordinate the current opportunities available. See Opportunities page. Meanwhile together with other cycle groups we organize rides to enjoy our area and sunshine, above is one our regular Tuesday evening rides meeting for refreshments at a local watering hole.

It is our mission to campaign along similar lines to HUB and the other Sussex cycle groups.

Did you know that Bexhill was one of the first places where people could enjoy cycling along the seafront? Would you like to recover the right to cycle responsibly on the promenade? If so, please support our petition by joining our Facebook group and encouraging others to do so.
